Where is the proboscis monkey?

Garama River

Is this a male or female?

It is a male!

Also known as the long-nosed monkey

They are largely arboreal and moves quadrupedally and by leaping

Happy family

They live in groups consisting of one adult male, some adult females and their offspring

Males have a head-body length averaging 75.5 cm and weigh on average 20kg

Endemic to the south-east Asian island of Borneo

They spend most of the daily resting, traveling, feeding and keeping vigilant

And of course acting for the tourists!

Groups usually sleep in one or several trees that are nearby

Notice the large nose or proboscis of the male

Can exceed 10cm in length

Fishermen

The fur is bright orange, reddish brown, yellowish brown or brick-red

I believe I can fly

The proboscis monkey eats primarily fruit and leaves

This is a female proboscis monkey

It also eats flowers seeds and insects to a lesser extent

They start the day feeding and then move further inland

Before dark the monkeys move back near the river and feed again

Our adventure continues

The males have a very nice fur vest

The male has a red penis with a black scrotum
